Textured Blocks

I am putting these pictures up for one of my students on my textured blocks class. This is the quilt that has tied borders.
Here is a closeup of the tying. A perle cotton and surgeon's knot is the method I used. I wanted to add some texture which would be in keeping with the quilt.
Here is the second class sample. In this one I machine quilted the borders. If you look at the "star" block (bottom right on the green quilt and bottom left on the orange quilt) you can see how different they look just by the use of colour.

Felt Melt Swap

I received the most beautiful piece of work from Arlee this morning. The photograph doesn't do it justice. It is an absolutely stunning piece. The colours are very rich. It was part of the felt melt challenge and Arlee and I swapped pieces. Thanks Arlee.

So you're the lucky recipient of Arlee's wonderfully creative piece!

Thanks for the reminder about tying adding texture to a quilt. There's so much stuffed in my head from so many years of experience that some of it gets buried and I forget that I know (knew) it.
