"Fragments" is home from its travels

This is a quilt I made for the "Doing Small Things with Great Love" challenge last year. I received it back from it's travels yesterday. It's good to see it home again. The ribbon was sent back with it from the last exhibit San Pedro, California. Although it wasn't judged I thought that was a lovely touch. It says the quilt was a "2007 Selected Exhibitor".

It has been exhibited in Redondo Beach, California in August 2006, Quilst Fest of New Jersey in March 2007, San Pedro, CA in April and again in a different location in San Pedro, CA in June-August this year. It's really a lot of fun to see where the quilt has travelled. The only place it has been that I haven't is New Jersey.

I used a number of techniques for this quilt. Hand dyed fabrics and bleach discharge. I loved the colour that was achieved with the bleach on the hand dyed blue. I added some fusible applique.

I sun printed this piece of fabric using skeleton leaves and fir tree branches. I added some Swarovski crystals.
The backing was hand dyed cotton and the piece was machine quilted.

what a great piece to have home to grace your walls with :-)

I love how the bleach discharge worked on your hand dyed fabric -- very very effective...

How pleased you must be that this piece is back home where it belongs. Its beautiful - and yes I know I'm biased because of the bleach discharge :)

How exciting, your work desirves to be shown around the world.
I too love the discharge great affect. I'm not sure what Swarovski crystals are, are they like a bead???
Nice sun printing too...

Carol, I also received my piece "Celtic Trails" home from the Doing Small Things challenge. It was exciting to see it again and read about all the places it has been. The ribbon was especially nice as was the program.
