I am still working my way through the hundreds of photographs I took in the US. Here is one from the Sears tower. We had a lovely day for our visit, we could see for miles.
I like this one. I think this would make a good journal quilt.
We also paid a visit to the Institute of Art. They have a wonderful collection of art, it was fantastic.
Of course I had to visit the Chicago quilt show since I had a quilt in the Journal Quilt section. I am not infringing copyright by showing this view of the journal quilts. It was really good to see them up close. I decided to go on the Sunday when it was quieter - that was a good decision as I managed to spend a lot of time looking and photographing all the wonderful quilts.
I also had a wander around the vendors and met with Xenia Cord. I first met Xenia on a visit arranged by the BQL list many years ago to a quilt exhibition at the Bowes Museum. I was studying for my City & Guilds at the time. Xenia is a quilt historian and researcher and like me she has an interest in Featherweight sewing machines. She is a lovely lady.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Lois Jarvis. I bought her CD on rust dyeing. If you are interested in rust dyeing then it is worth having as she explains her process very well. Lois shares her knowledge of rust dyeing on her blog which you can get to from her website. I "met" Lois on the Surfacing Yahoo group and it was so nice to meet her in person.
If you are a regular visit to my blog you will know from previous photographs that I love seeing and photographing reflections in windows and boy were there a huge amount of windows in Chicago! I haven't found the others yet but this is a good source don't you think? I feel another Journal Quilt coming on.
We left Chicago and drove on to Middlebury and the Amish community - now that was a wonderful place (I think it was my favourite). I'll post pictures tomorrow.

I'm so glad you had a good time at the quilt show in Chicago. I've not been there, but have been going to Festival in Houston for many years. I really enjoyed seeing the photos you took in the "windy city." Thanks for sharing......Pat at birdnestontheground
