Needlefelt Challenge - Trapped

I decided with the "trapped" challenge that I wanted to do something other than a sample.

I started with black felt which I sprayed with 505 temporary adhesive. I then cut up small snippets of silk organza in blues and golds. I wanted a "broken" rather than solid look for the lighter part of the design and so I used a shot crystal organza - it breaks up nicely with the embellisher - and it shimmers! I added a layer of copper coloured tulle to "trap" in place and then I felted it. I am not sure about using 505 with the embellisher I may need to clean the needles before I start another project. I free motion stitched over the whole piece and just need to bind it.

I had an idea in mind when I made this piece, I even had a name for it! However when I showed it to Norman and asked what he saw is reply was nothing like what I had in mind when I made it. So what do you see?

Sashiko Samples

I did these sashiko samples as covers for my folders. The represent Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter (not in that order in the pictures).

This is an overall design and one I like very much. I did a lovely Koi carp in red on a black background but it won't photograph so I can't show you that one.
Once I try a technique I like to take it one step further (or more) and this butterfly although it started out as a sashiko piece I decided to paint it. I used Stewart Gill fabric paints some are irridescent others are metallica. I love this piece and I know someone else who might - it's all glittery and she just loves sparkles!

It looks to me like the reflection of the moon on the water.
You must tell us what you had in mind and also what Norman thought it was. Whatever, you have still managed to portray the title of trapped beautifully.

Well ladies the trapped challenge piece started out as a moon over the water and as I finished it I saw a figure appear. I asked Norman what he saw and he said a spinning lady, an ice skater was the image he had in mind. The more I look at it the more I see it as an ethereal spirit. It's interesting to read what others see.
