The Start of a New project

Life has been pretty busy here. I finished my Module 3 work and sent it off to my tutor in time for the deadline - end of November. The good news is it has been signed off much to my surprise. I have already made a start on Module 4.

My classes have finished for the Christmas break. They have been a blast I do enjoy them. My students work so hard and their work is simply gorgeous. I am so lucky to have such a talented group of ladies in both classes.

My christmas shopping is all finished and all the housework is up-to-date. That's a good feeling.
I haven't had any time in my studio these past weeks but now I can spend some time in there and so I have started a new quilt. I am making a New York Beauty quilt. I have decided to make it a "scrappy" quilt using some of my favourite fabrics. I did buy a couple of new fabrics I couldn't resist and will add some from my stash. I have two blocks made already:

I started a little cautiously colour wise with this block.

I am getting a little more adventurous. I find random more difficult than if I planned on using specific colour scheme.

Although I have my samples and quilts ready for the new term beginning in the middle of January - I am teaching a sampler quilt and a Lone Star quilt amongst other things - I thought this might be a nice additional project.

I will post other blocks as I make them - that way I may get it finished before class starts - time permitting.

I received these two postcards from Marjorie in California. We are members of the Art2Mail group. It's wonderful receiving these gorgeous postcards.

I love the blocks on for your new project. I really want to do a NYB-style quilt some day. Great postcards too!

I love the look of New York Beauty, but hate the paper piecing!

Your squares are beautiful especially the second one. Can't wait to see the finished piece.
