She Made her Mark

Well here's my finished design for She Made Her Mark. I designed it in Paint Shop Pro XI. I chose Marie Curie. The background is a colourful suggestion of an X-ray of the centre part of the body. On another layer I added the x-rays of the hands and on the final layer I added a picture of the Nobel Prize which Marie won.

I intend quilting it and adding the letter R (Radium) and P (Polonium) to the quilt design. I will finish it but I think I will be too late for my CD of images to be sent to the USA. I had forgotten about that when I decided to sign up for the challenge. I have been working on the design itself since the challenge was announced but didn't sign up until I was sure I could complete the quilt. Of course I forgot all about the reduced postal service over the Xmas and New Year period. The CD needs to be in the USA by 6th January. Oh! well I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and I suspect it would never have been chosen anyway.

I hope you all have a lovely holiday season with your family. I may have time to post between Christmas and New Year if not A Happy New Year when it comes.

Carol, this piece is luminous. A visual pleasure. I know about missing deadlines - ack - but there's always another show to enter, isn't there? Happy holidays.

Hi Rayna,

I received an email from a very kind lady in the US saying I could send my digital images to her via email and she would copy them to CD for me and send them off in time for the deadline! I have until 2 January now to finish my quilt.

How blessed am I to be shown such kindness from a complete stranger.

Have a lovely holiday season.

Hi Carol

I'm finally on the puter again. Wow,Wow, Wow. How busy you have been. Just love everything. You have really inspired me to get PSP now. Come the new year you'll have to give me lessons on how to use mine, for I'm going to gift myself with it.

Wishing you and Norman have a great Christmas, and Very Happy New Year.

Luminous is what came to my mind also...the Nobel emblem and the skeleton knocks the visual up! What size is it?

Carol said...

Karoda it is 25" x 24". I added the binding and hanging sleeve today. It's finished! I also took the photographs and they are ready to send. I doubt if it will be accepted but the most important part was researching, designing and making it.

I am off to start a very special project - more later.
